What size UPS do you need?
Power ratings for UPSs range from 300VA to 5,000kVA in volt-amperes (VA). This rating indicates the maximum load that a UPS can handle, however, it should not be used to determine the precise power load you have. The best practice is to purchase a UPS with a VA rating of 1.2x the total load you need it to support to allow for future expansion. Add extra VA capacity to your requirements if your UPS will be supporting motors, variable-speed drives, medical imaging devices, or laser printers to account for the high-power inrush that occurs when such devices startup.
